Why placement makes the difference
Mounting height changes everything. At 7–8 feet, coverage lands evenly across shoulders and torso without the beam passing over people’s heads. Drop it to around 6 feet and the beam concentrates, which can feel too intense if you’re directly under it. For patio heaters and outdoor heating setups, angle the unit slightly downward toward where people actually sit, not straight out over empty space. That keeps infrared warmth consistent where it matters, cuts heat loss to the sky, and helps the thermostat hold steady. The details that keep it working
With 12V/24V electric heaters, size the wire for the full current and check connector ratings—loose terminals can warm up. Clearance matters, too: keep the unit at least 3 feet from combustibles and use the included mounting template. One honest constraint: radiant heat warms what it touches, so drafts near open doors can still steal comfort.
