
Making Bathroom Heaters That Actually Feel Good (and Won’t Blind You)
When we design heating lamps for bathrooms, we’re dealing with a bit of a paradox. You need them to be waterproof—specifically IP44 rated—so a few splashes of water don’t fry the electronics. But the real headache isn’t the water. It’s the light. Nobody wants to step out of a shower and feel like they’re being stared down by a stadium floodlight. It’s jarring. And for babies or kids with sensitive eyes, that harsh glare is more than just annoying; it’s a real safety concern. Keeping the heat, losing the glare Most standard infrared lamps are blinding. To stop that, we messed around with the quartz coatings and the filaments. We shifted the “peak” of the light. Basically, we filter out the aggressive visible light and lean into the long-wave infrared spectrum. You still get that deep, cozy warmth that sinks into your skin, but without the blinding flash. It’s a much softer experience. The battle with heat and water Here’s the tricky part: that IP44 seal that keeps the water out also tends to trap heat inside. We use housing materials that can handle being heated up and cooled down a thousand times without warping or cracking. But a quick tip if you’re installing these: don’t cram them into a suffocatingly tight ceiling void. Even a sealed unit needs a little room to breathe, or the internal driver might just give up the ghost from overheating. Getting them installed We made these to be simple drop-in replacements for the fixtures you already have. We also beefed up the connectors. Why? Because bathroom ventilation fans vibrate, and over a few years, that constant shaking can wiggle electrical contacts loose. We wanted to make sure that doesn’t happen. You might notice these aren’t as “bright” as some other heaters. That’s on purpose. In a bathroom, you want to feel warm and relaxed, not like you’re under an interrogation lamp. We’d rather give you a safe, cozy glow than a high lumen count any day.
