Why we test every single lamp (and why you should care)

When you’re dealing with wafer heating, there is zero room for error. One tiny electrical arc or a spot of bad insulation doesn’t just pop a lamp—it trashes an entire batch of silicon. That’s a nightmare nobody wants to deal with.
That’s why we don’t do “spot checks” or “sampling.” We test every single lamp that leaves our shop. Period.
The reality of high voltage
High-voltage heating elements take a beating. The constant heating and cooling causes thermal stress, which can lead to micro-fractures in the quartz or a weak seal at the electrode. If that insulation gives way, current leaks straight into the machine chassis.
To stop that from happening, we use Hipot testing. We basically push the insulation way past its normal operating voltage. If there’s a hidden defect, we want it to fail here in our lab, not in your cleanroom.
The problem with “good enough”
A lot of shops just test a few units from a batch and assume the rest are fine. But when you’re running high-end semiconductor gear, “probably fine” isn’t good enough.
By testing every unit, we make sure the insulation resistance is exactly where it needs to be. It keeps your GFCIs from tripping for no reason and stops surge feedback from frying your PLC boards. It’s about peace of mind.
The trade-off
Here’s the honest truth: being this strict slows down our production. It takes more time and more effort. You might see that in the lead time, but you’ll make it up in the downtime you don’t have.
Just a heads-up, though—our lamps are solid, but they can’t fix bad wiring. If your connector housings are dirty or contaminated, you’ve still got a conductive path that can cause trouble. Make sure your grounding is up to spec so our lamps can do their job.
We’ll send over the test reports so you can see the numbers for yourself. You get a replacement that just works—no blown fuses, no arcs, no drama.
